Position: Tribeca Film Institute, Instructor/Teaching Artist
2008 Summer Arts Institute Filmmaking Program


TFI seeks a dynamic and inventive instructor/teaching artist to co-teach the Summer Arts Institute Filmmaking Workshop, a six-week filmmaking workshop for NYC youth ages 15-19. Candidates for the position should have five+ years experience in digital filmmaking, Final Cut Pro editing systems and curriculum development necessary. Three+ years experience teaching film and/or video production to high school or college students is preferred, but working filmmakers are encouraged to apply.

The Summer Arts Institute is a tuition-free, intensive, arts program for New York City public school students, held at Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan.  Students major in dance, theater, vocal music, instrumental music, visual art, film or photography.  SAI offers hands-on instruction, while connecting students to community and cultural resources along with access to careers and lifelong learning in the arts.

Dates of employment:

One week of curriculum development and attendance at pre-program events between March and June 2008 and then from mid-June to late August (10 weeks)
  • Program hours are 8:30 am – 3 pm on weekdays but position will require full-time hours
  • Classes are in session July 5 – August 11
  • Employment dates include 2 weeks prep and 2 weeks wrap-up

Salary Range:

Weekly rate commensurate with experience. For dates leading up to the program, Instructor will be paid at a day rate based on the weekly program rate.
